Day Trip

So tomorrow Hubs and I are taking a day trip to Globe, AZ with his mentor and the mentor's wife. Which is super nice. This man has been wonderful to Hubs - given great advice and opened many doors. I really am grateful. This does not, however, negate the Issues At Hand:

  • Waking up at 5am to get to the mentor's house in time to be on the road by 7am. Why would anyone want to be up at that ungodly hour on a SATURDAY?
  • We're going to Globe, AZ. For those who are unfamiliar, Globe is NOT a destination.
  • Hubs is riding with the mentor in the mentor's Lotus. I'm riding with the mentor's wife in an Audi TT. I'm petrified of making small talk for 2 hours with someone I don't know. Hell, I'm petrified of making small talk PERIOD.
  • Sleep apnea. I cannot for the life of me stay awake for more than 20 minutes when I'm a passenger in a car. Unless my phone becomes a microphone and I'm sing karaoke the whole way. {Which Hubs has strictly forbidden.}

So, dear friends, do I apologize upfront to mentor's wife for possible narcoleptic spell or do I wait until I awake from the haze with drool down my right cheek? FML xoxo Miss E

Ugh! I hate small talk! I seriously think it's in the top 10 things I can't stand so I feel your pain. I would upfront tell her about it... have a good laugh and therefore it will be less awkward.

Hang in there my friend!

Yikes, you had me at 5am. NO fun for a Saturday! Plus, I have the same problem with the sleeping in the car thing. Good luck...and get some coffee first!

Ack...Globe??? That sucks. Can you count the cacti en route so you don't fall asleep? Or lots and lots of caffeine. :(

OOF---2 hours of small talk DOES sound like a trial! though I think I might be up for it if it meant a ride in an audi TT ;)

Have fun!

I can't stay awake in a car for long, either! Don't feel bad. But, please try to stay awake for the sake of the wife. Haha.

I have the opposite problem in the car - I'm good to go, put me in the driver seat because my eyes will never shut. Kinda annoying...
